Healthworks Enables

The Healthworks Enables programme, led by the Dalgarno Trust is a unique multi-agency health partners scheme which operates in collaboration with local BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) organisations. The programme was initiated in 2012.

Dalgarno Trust and partners offer services to residents of RBKC, particularly those who live in the northern and southern parts of the borough, known to be in the most deprived areas in London. Activities are mainly group based and focused on helping people from BAME communities to make healthy lifestyle choices and prevent long-term health conditions.

Our Activities

Our activities are predominantly group-based and focus on promoting healthy lifestyle choices and preventing long-term health conditions. Key areas of focus include:

Physical Activity: including Aerobics, Zumba, Yoga, Football, Stretch and Align, Walking and Chair-Based Exercise

Wellbeing Activity: Covering topics such as nutrition, weight management, mental health, emotional wellbeing, and strategies to manage stress and anxiety.

Self-empowerment: these sessions unite people, encouraging them to connect, share ideas, and explore resources for living well, including peer-to-peer support.

Health-Themed Groups: Creating opportunities for individuals to connect, share experiences, develop awareness of health conditions, and activities to promote overall physical and mental wellness.

Community Health Events: delivering open community access to all residents and service users. Our events collaborate with statutory health services and other VCS partners to raise awareness on topics such as Cancer screening, mental health, wellness and men’s health.

Partner organisations we work with:

  • Al-Hasaniya – Moroccan Women’s Centre
  • Al-Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre
  • Earl’s Court Residents Association
  • Iraqi Women’s League
  • Minds United Sports Club
  • Persian Care Centre
  • Sanctuary for Sisterhood
  • St Antonio’s Eritrean Refugee Women’s Group

Emotional Well-being Programme

The Emotional Well-being Programme falls under our wider key areas of support in improving health and wellbeing, with a focus on creating initiatives that support residents experiencing social isolation, poor emotional health, loneliness and mental well-being.

These initiatives include exploring new environments and connecting with others; cooking and nutrition, fostering creativity and social interaction; gardening, promoting relaxation and a sense of accomplishment; and drama workshops, which encourage self-expression and build confidence. Participants combat isolation, improve their mental health, and forge meaningful connections within their community.
